Chipotle Smoked Brisket Returns 5 November 2026
Chipotle confirmed on 26 October 2026 that mesquite-smoked brisket returns to its menu on 5 November, in the United States and Canada, in restaurants and through its app. It is the third run for an item that has never been permanent, and this time Chipotle has published more about how it is made than in either previous year. Here is the announcement, the preparation in its own words, and the two things it has still not said.

Smoked brisket returns on 5 November 2026 across the US and Canada, in restaurant and digitally. Chipotle has not published a price. It is mesquite-smoked for hours, then seared on the plancha, seasoned with smoked serrano and chipotle peppers, tossed in a smoky chile sauce and hand-chopped in small batches. There are $0 delivery fees on brisket orders from 5 to 18 November.

How Chipotle Makes It
This announcement is more detailed about preparation than either of the previous brisket launches. In Chipotle own words it is mesquite-smoked for hours before being seared, seasoned, sauced and hand-chopped in small batches. Broken into steps:
| Step | Chipotle own wording |
|---|---|
| 1 | Mesquite-smoked for hours — a low-and-slow smoking process |
| 2 | Seared on the plancha by restaurant team members |
| 3 | Seasoned with smoked serrano and chipotle chili peppers |
| 4 | Tossed in a savory sauce made with smoky chili peppers |
| 5 | Hand-chopped in small batches, throughout the day |
Nevielle Panthaky, Chipotle Senior Vice President of Culinary, on what that produces: a signature blend of spices and a low-and-slow smoking process give the brisket its bold, beefy, smoky character.
Two details worth pulling out. Mesquite is named this time — previous releases said smoked without specifying the wood. And hand-chopped in small batches throughout the day is an operational commitment: most Chipotle proteins are prepared in bulk ahead of service, and small-batch preparation through the day is closer to how a barbecue restaurant works. It is also part of why brisket has never become permanent.

The sourcing figure Chipotle does not usually give
Chipotle describes the beef as Responsibly Raised — cattle raised on a strictly vegetarian diet, without added growth hormones or routine antibiotics, and traceable to the ranch of origin. Then it adds a number:
Our sourcing guide covers what Responsibly Raised means across the rest of the menu.
The Spice Question
Chipotle did not state a formal spice level in this announcement. What it gave instead was Panthaky describing a little kick that’s uniquely Chipotle.
That is consistent with what Chipotle said during the previous run, when it described brisket as having a mild spice level with a subtle kick. Which remains the genuinely counterintuitive thing about this item:
| Protein | Chile in the preparation |
|---|---|
| Smoked brisket | Smoked serrano and chipotle, plus a chile sauce |
| Chicken, steak | Chipotle adobo marinade |
| Sofritas | Chipotle chilis and roasted poblanos |
| Barbacoa, carnitas | Braised |
Brisket is the only Chipotle protein that carries serrano, and serrano is hotter than jalapeño — yet Chipotle rates it mild. The chiles are there for smoke and depth rather than heat. Where everything sits is on our spiciest and mildest guide.
The $0 Delivery Offer
Chipotle attached a delivery promotion to the launch, and it has its own terms.
| Term | Detail |
|---|---|
| What | $0 delivery fees on Smoked Brisket orders |
| When | 5 to 18 November 2026 |
| Where | Chipotle app, chipotle.com or chipotle.ca — not third-party platforms |
| Required | A Smoked Brisket entree purchase |
| Minimum | $10 US / $12 CAD, before tax and fees |
| Excluded | Catering and Burritos by the Box |
| Still applies | Higher menu prices on delivery orders |
| Service fees | Still added at checkout except in CA, CO, CT, MA, MN and VA |
Rewards redemptions can be in a qualifying order but do not count toward the $10 minimum.
What Chipotle Has Not Said
Three things, and the third is the interesting one.
- The price. No figure anywhere in the announcement. Brisket was a premium protein in its previous runs, priced above steak, but that is not a current number and we will not publish one until there is one.
- The end date. Limited time, with no stated finish.
- What happens to Pollo Asado.
What is consistent: Chipotle told investors it would run three to four protein offerings during 2026, up from two a year. Counting Chicken al Pastor in February, honey chicken from April, Pollo Asado from August and brisket from November, that is four — exactly the top of its own guidance.
Its Three Runs
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| November 2020 | Tested in select markets |
| 21 September 2021 | National launch, US and Canada |
| 10 September 2024 | Returned after three years |
| 5 November 2026 | Returns again — US and Canada, in restaurant and digital |
Both previous launches landed in September. This one does not — Chipotle positioned it around the heart of football season instead, which is the same framing it used for carne asada in its September runs.
Nutrition is the one gap that persists across all three runs: Chipotle has never published calorie or protein figures for smoked brisket, and it did not this time either. Any specific macro figure you find for it is not from Chipotle. Figures for the permanent menu are on our toppings and ingredients guide.
If you want to make something close at home while you wait, our barbacoa recipe is the nearest braised-beef equivalent, and the adobo paste underneath it is the same chile base Chipotle uses across its menu.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Chipotle bringing back smoked brisket?
Yes. Chipotle announced on 26 October 2026 that mesquite-smoked brisket returns on 5 November 2026, at restaurants across the United States and Canada. It is available both in restaurant and digitally through the Chipotle app, chipotle.com and chipotle.ca. Chipotle describes it as a limited-time return and has not published an end date.
How much does Chipotle smoked brisket cost?
Chipotle did not publish a price in its announcement, and we are not going to estimate one. What the release does say is that higher menu prices are charged for delivery, which applies to every Chipotle item rather than brisket specifically. In its previous runs brisket was priced as a premium protein above steak, but that is history rather than a current figure.
How is Chipotle smoked brisket made?
Chipotle own description: it is mesquite-smoked for hours before being seared, seasoned, sauced and hand-chopped in small batches. In the restaurant, team members sear it on the plancha, finish it with spices, toss it in a savory sauce made with smoky chili peppers, and hand-chop it in small batches throughout the day. Chipotle calls it a low-and-slow smoking process.
Is Chipotle smoked brisket spicy?
Chipotle did not state a formal spice level in this announcement. Its SVP of Culinary, Nevielle Panthaky, described it as having a little kick that’s uniquely Chipotle. In its previous run Chipotle described brisket as having a mild spice level with a subtle kick, which is consistent. It is seasoned with smoked serrano and chipotle chili peppers, so there is real chile in it, but it reads as smoky rather than hot.
What is the Chipotle brisket delivery offer?
Chipotle is running $0 delivery fees on Smoked Brisket orders from 5 to 18 November 2026, placed through the Chipotle app, chipotle.com or chipotle.ca. A Smoked Brisket entree purchase is required, with a $10 minimum in the US or $12 in Canada before tax and fees. It does not apply to catering, Burritos by the Box or third-party delivery platforms, and higher delivery menu prices still apply.
Where does Chipotle brisket beef come from?
Chipotle describes it as Responsibly Raised beef, from cattle raised on a strictly vegetarian diet without added growth hormones or routine antibiotics, and traceable to the ranch of origin. In this announcement it added a figure it does not usually give: it estimates that roughly 5 per cent of beef in the United States meets those standards.
Does brisket replace Pollo Asado?
Chipotle has not said. Pollo Asado launched on 31 August 2026 and brisket arrives on 5 November, and the announcement makes no mention of Pollo Asado ending. Chipotle has historically run one limited-time protein at a time, so either that changes or Pollo Asado finishes — but it has published neither, and anyone telling you definitively is guessing.
How many times has Chipotle had smoked brisket?
This is the third run. It was tested in select markets in November 2020, launched nationally on 21 September 2021, returned on 10 September 2024, and returns again on 5 November 2026. Both previous launches landed in September, so a November return is a break from that pattern — Chipotle positioned this one around the heart of football season.
Methodology
The launch date, preparation, sourcing claims, offer terms and executive quotes on this page come from Chipotle own announcement of 26 October 2026, and are quoted rather than paraphrased where the wording matters. Chipotle published no menu price for the item, so none is given here. Chipotle also did not state a formal spice level in that release, and this page says so rather than carrying one over. Nutrition figures have never been published for smoked brisket in any of its runs and are not estimated here. Where the announcement raises a question Chipotle has not answered – what happens to the current limited-time protein – that is identified as unanswered.
